We are an independent, quarterly, ad-free printed magazine. Our focus is the celebration of slow, seasonal living, and each issue is centred around the seasons.
There are four key themes within each issue:
Stories - features and interviews about the lives of inspiring individuals and creative businesses
Nature - articles and images centred around the wildlife, flowers and weather of the season ahead
Folklore - creative prose and non-fiction articles exploring pagan folklore and the stories behind seasonal celebrations
Adventure - inspiration to try something new and spend more time outdoors
If you are interested in submitting something to us for publication, the best place to start is looking at a copy of a previous issue. You can get a feel for the type of content our readers enjoy from the online journal, but magazine content is slightly different.
Creative Countryside accepts non-fiction, the occasional recipe, photography, illustrations, creative prose and poetry.
Poetry submissions are the domain of our Poetry Editor, Rhiannon Hooson, who will release a submission window for each issue - more details here.
For all other submissions, please contact Eleanor - firstname.lastname@example.org - using the issue number and theme in the subject of your email (see below).
Articles should be between 800 - 2000 words and ideally sent in a Word document. Photography, art work and illustrations should be sent as high resolution JPEG files. Please email a short pitch and any relevant background information prior to sending over any work.
